Bird Watching

Bird-Watching At Its Best

Dumfries & Galloway – an area of outstanding natural beauty and wildlife, a great place to relax and explore. From the sandflats of the Solway to the more rugged coastline further west nestle a huge variety of species.

The RSPB has four nature reserves, Mull of Galloway, Ken-Dee Marshes, Wood of Cree and with Mersehead only a short journey away, playing host to barnacle geese in the winter. And not to mention the Red Kite Trail, a 30 mile route around the breath taking countryside.  Any visitor would be unlikely not to spot one performing it’s aerobatics as they travel the trail.  Where at the feeding station you can watch  up to 50 Red Kites overhead jockey for a position and swoop down to pluck the scraps from the ground. A joy to the eye.
